Atlanta Art Fair: Karen Comer Lowe & Lauren Jackson Harris
Curated by Karen Comer Lowe and Lauren Jackson Harris, these special projects bring together artists Pamela Longobardi, Shanequa Gay, Emily Mann, Horace Imhotep, Crystal Jin Kim, and Kyle Ford in a two-part exploration of art as a space of transformation. Longobardi’s Drifters Project recasts oceanic debris into sculptural and photographic works that confront environmental crisis while rendering beauty from ruin. In parallel, Harris’s curatorial frame of “gentle” considers Southern notions of respectability, resilience, and tenderness through the practices of Atlanta-based artists whose works negotiate identity, orientation, and cultural memory.
Directed by Saul Appelbaum with Artistic Direction by Nato Thompson, the project interlaces moving image, sound by DJ Fridaze, and archival material—including footage from Plastic Free Island ~ Kefalonia—to create an immersive meditation on ecology, community, and the politics of care.
